Terms, licence & disclaimer

Last updated: 4 November 2026. These terms are a plain-language draft prepared for Cryxel Studio and should be reviewed by a South African attorney before sale.

1. Buying (store terms)

Licences are sold in South African rand through Payhip. The price shown at checkout (including any taxes the store adds) is the price you pay. After payment the store delivers your licence key and download link electronically; delivery is normally immediate. Software delivered electronically is delivered when the download link and key are made available to you.

2. Refunds

You may ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason, by emailing cryxelstudio@gmail.com. This is a voluntary guarantee on top of — and does not limit — any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

3. End-user licence agreement (EULA)

The text below is the same EULA shown in the installer and in the app (About screen).

Please read this before you install or use Cryxel Ledger. By installing or using the software you accept it. If you do not accept it, do not install the software, or uninstall it and ask for a refund (see section 7).

1. LICENCE
1.1 Cryxel Studio grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Cryxel Ledger on computers you own or control, for your own personal or household finances. The free trial runs for 14 days; after that the software becomes read-only (you can still view, export and back up your data) until you enter a licence key.
1.2 A paid licence key includes the version you bought and the updates described on the sales page at the time of purchase.
1.3 You may not sell, rent, sub-license or publicly redistribute the software or licence keys, or remove licence checks. You may copy the installer for your own backup. Third-party components included in the software remain under their own licences (for example Python, Flask, pdf.js, pypdf, ReportLab and Pillow).

2. AS IS
This software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY SOUTH AFRICAN LAW.

3. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
You use this software at your own risk. You are responsible for checking its output, keeping your own backups, and deciding whether it suits your needs. It is not financial, tax, legal or accounting advice. Tax, budgeting and "safe to spend" figures are aids only; check them against your own records or a registered professional before you rely on them.

4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cryxel Studio and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption arising from the use of or inability to use this software. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the software. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability for fraud, gross negligence or anything that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

5. NO MALWARE
We do not knowingly include any virus, malware, spyware or hidden tracking in our software. Each release is scanned with up-to-date security tools (including VirusTotal) before publication, and its SHA-256 checksum is published with the download so you can verify it. No scan can guarantee software is free of every risk, and antivirus programs may occasionally flag new or unsigned software incorrectly; if that happens, please contact us and verify the checksum before you decide.
The installer is not yet digitally signed with a paid code-signing certificate, so Windows SmartScreen may show a "Windows protected your PC" warning. Verify the SHA-256 checksum on our download page before you choose "Run anyway".

6. YOUR DATA
The software runs on your computer and stores your data locally (in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CryxelLedger) unless a feature clearly says otherwise. It does not ask for your bank logins, and it does not send your financial data to Cryxel Studio or anyone else. Cryxel Studio collects no usage statistics or telemetry from the software. You are responsible for your backups and for keeping your device and passwords secure. Uninstalling the software does not delete your data folder.

7. REFUNDS
If you are not satisfied, you may ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase, with no questions asked, by contacting us at the address below. This is in addition to, and does not limit, any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

8. UPDATES AND SUPPORT
We aim to fix reported problems and may publish updates. Support is by email, on a reasonable-effort basis.

9. GOVERNING LAW
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the unenforceable part applies only to the extent the law allows.
